On a few occasions we were allowed to spend some time at school on the single Apple computer playing Where in the World is Carmen SanDiego. World Almanac in hand, we tracked her and her associates doggedly through the streets of Europe. And then I went home, and wished I could play more. Eventually I decided it was worth writing my own game. But I didn't have a World Almanac at home. So I made "Where in the Solar System is Carmen Crater." I was probably in my early teens at the time. Atari files don't have date-stamps. I set the game in 2040 and made up a bunch of stuff about what would be going on in the Solar System at that time.
