My Quick thoughts:
(2D gamers get stellar experiences with the Wolfenstein series of games, yet VR gamers get half-baked ideas and dreams, what is wrong with these developers?)
My initial thoughts:
The game works fine on the Oculus Rift S and I had no issues with the Touch Controllers.
The first time I started the game the backgrounds looked terrible and blurry, but the introduction text was crystal clear and sharp which came across as really strange to me, it felt like the background had a blur filter on it.
Playing around with the graphic settings and the render settings I got slightly better image quality but blur is still noticeable in the backgrounds.
I also had lots of stuttering in my Rift S (Which doesn't come across in my video) and no matter what settings I tried, I still had stutter.
I also had similar issues with Fallout 4 VR which makes me wonder if they are using the same engine?
The game took me about 2 hours to complete and I really enjoyed the concept, but the most fun part for me was towards the end of the game where you pick up the BIGGEST mech. This part was really fun and it made me want a longer campaign just featuring this mech and this type of gameplay.
Some 'Basic' and I mean 'Basic' FPS action is teased right at the end of the game and it just made me want to play the original Wolfenstein games in VR.
Had this game been a mixture of the pancake Wolfenstein games complete with discovering and piloting these mechs, it would have made for an amazing experience and I could possible have over looked the graphical issues, hoping for a patch/fix.
As it stands, this game feels like a miss-match of 'fun' ideas and at the end of the day all we really want is the Original Wolfenstein series in VR!
Also, I recently re-played Eve Valkyrie, a 2 year old game and the graphics and quality put this one to shame.
Is it worth the asking price? Probably, but don't expect anything mind blowing or special. And I would say maybe wait for some improvement patches or a sale before picking it up.
PS. For the record I am a big fan of the pancake Wolfenstein games giving them high ratings on Steam. So Yes I am a big fan of the franchise.
