I'll make a proper thumbnail later, I gotta sleep.
Here's a new Work In Progress for Mushihimesama on the Switch. By the way, when I mean Work In Progress, I intend to turn that into a "Personal Best" upon being able to complete the game. I'm working on Novice because I'm a scrub, LOL. It's not like I've never spent time with any other shmup (cough, GigaWing2, cough) But actually, I've never spent much time on the first Mushi, except on iOS many years ago. So a lot of this is brand spanking new to me, aside from knowledge gleaned from STG Weekly and others. So here's hoping I can turn this into another favorite! Let's go, bullet hell!!
---------------------------------
Coming in as one of the stealth releases from Nintendo's E3 Direct (in Japan) is CAVE's arcade classic, Mushihimesama (Bug Princess). Previously available on PS2, XBox 360, iOS, and Steam, it's now arrived on Nintendo Switch, thanks to LiveWire! All the familiar game modes, window, and autofire/rapid fire options from 360 and Steam are here! (forgive me, I don't know if/where Black Label came out). And if you're playing handheld, you get the added benefit to turn your Switch sideways and enjoy the game in its proper orientation. The game feels good and responsive on Joycon (button movement) and Pro Controller (D-Pad?!), but my fight stick feels the tiniest bit of microlag because of my dead zone (I installed a Seimitsu LS-40) and possibly my USB adapter.
With the promise of Espgaluda II and DoDonPachi Daifukatsu (Dodonpachi Resurrection) later this year, and not to mention the Deathsmiles collection, it's finally looking like the classic CAVE shmups are finally coming to stay on the Switch!
