Just fiddling around with the idea of triggers and scripted moments. Also working slowly on developing a sanity meter, top left you can see it, it goes down when you encounter this test scene and in the future along side of that when you see, read, or hear terrifying things it will also lower your sanity. This will likely be one of the larger parts of the game's mechanics. I want to make it so depending on your sanity level when encountering different things your character or the scene may play out differently. With several items around the map/levels that will allow you to regen your sanity but at the cost of health, such as a bottle of whiskey, smokes, laudanum, opiates, activating or staying within hidden symbols/signs, etc....And if your sanity is an good area as apposed to not looking so hot you may find an additional item or clue, but if your sanity is low, perhaps you will take auto health damage from some event or vision while you remain frozen, or perhaps lose a valuable clue. So it will be a balancing act of staying physically healthy and staying mentally acute and just plain surviving the horrors no mortal mind should have to bear. Just working with the idea and its still in the very very early stages as with everything else. The Sanity counter at the top left is just for debugging purposes as of now, eventually I hope to have a character screen where you can find this information and view your current inventory, journal entries, evidence, etc. The game will be based on investigating, surviving this particular investigation, ambiance, horror and learning more about the character and backstory along the way it will not be combat oriented as most of these things will leave your mind reeling and your ability to fight with purpose may be non existent. And possibly lead to varied endings. Although ultimately for continuity between this and future investigations and story's the outcome may be the same, just a few different ways it may play out and how you get there.
