33World of Jade Dynasty (诛仙世界) took several years of painstaking research and development since 2014, becoming one of the flagship titles of Perfect World in 2021. Sequel to the original Jade Dynasty game in 2007, the project was originally developed on an in-house game engine before was shutdown just few months after its initial testing for a redevelopment in 2016 with Unreal Engine 4 instead.
Perfect World Games worked with NVIDIA to integrate ray tracing rendering and DLSS 2.0. Physical grating, advanced dynamic shadow details, screen space and true 3D reflection, and a variety of lighting tools to create the most realistic fantasy world, was further added through the help of Unreal Engine 4.
True to the original Jade Dynasty game, World of Jade Dynasty attempts to interpret the fantasy world of Zhu Xian to the extreme. In the game, clouds and fogs are no longer textures hanging on the horizon, and the use of volumetric clouds makes crossing the sea of clouds more realistic.
The game features four seasons with day and night cycle. Each area has its own unique climate characteristics. Lights and shadow effects are vivid and life-like. When dawn takes place, sunlight casts strands of light piercing the clouds, awakening thousands of sleeping creatures; at dusk, the afterglow rays of the setting sun is scattered in the horizons.
Clouds, fog, rain, snow, and other natural scenery are also perfectly embodied in the game, which allows players to experience different scenery immersively.
In-depth character customization with endless possibilities will always be there especially in such a huge Perfect World title. World of Jade Dynasty is still in development until this day, so expect improvements to be made on overall appearance on the final product.
