Arguably the best way to make gold in Wrath of the Lich King (by best, I mean the most consistent and reliable) is leveling your cooking and fishing skill and making Fish Feast. This is the best raid food in the game. Due to this, Fish Feast constantly sells in large quantities and decent prices at the Auction House. Also, unlike many other professions, you are not fighting other players over crafting materials (such as mining nodes, herbs, etc.). You are able to go to one area (Wintergrasp) and catch as many fish as you wish, without the hassle of flying around searching for materials.

In addition to catching the required fish, you will need to do the cooking daily in Dalaran in order to obtain the Dalaran Cooking Awards necessary to buy the Fish Feast Recipe as well as the Northrend Spices needed to make Fish Feast.
