WOTC & Hasbro Have Reportedly Cancelled At Least 5 D&D and MTG Video Games
So reportedly Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro have cancelled at least five upcoming Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering video game projects after that sector underperformed for them in 2022. This is on top of making huge purchases in the last couple of years.
While it's not necessarily the proof in the pudding, it certainly paints a picture of a company that is bleeding money in the video game space and attempting to make as much money as possible from the tabletop component of their businessess with the new OGL 1.1 royalties and terms to make up for said losses.
Worth noting is that one of the studios mentioned in the Bloomberg report has spoken out on Twitter (as of January 6th) claiming that they were still working on a D&D project despite the report, so anyone with fresh news feel free to drop that down in the comments below!
