Would Warframe Melee Weapons Work in Real Life?
There are a lot of weapons in Warframe. Some of them are designed well with some basis of historical accuracy. However, some are silly.
I don't know if these are the best Warframe weapons of 2021, but included are some of my favorites.
While I have played some, using Excalibur (because swords), I don't know much about frames like Nezha or Lavos. However, I do know about history and what weapons we humans used to fight wars, and in personal defense. Some of them fit. Some are obviously alien.
Hope you enjoy my commentary on them!

Hey everybody, Marcus here, sword and sci-fi guy. I've talked about Warframe melee weapons before, but I want to do a more intensive breakdown covering their design, and how effective some would be as actual weapons.
Starting with Anku. This is a scythe in game, and that weapon class is a bit iffy historically. There were some pressed into use during rebellions, and there is one historic fighting manual that features them. Bt that's generally seen as a medieval meme. Anku, however, doesn't really look like a scythe. The attachment point here would be a weak point on an IRL design, but other than that it looks more like a bardiche, which is an axe polearm. Not sure what's going on at the bottom there, but otherwise a solid design.
With cassowar, I am sure what's going on on the bottom. While a number of polearms had spiked endcaps—secondary small spear heads—full double ended weapons were quite rare. The only one that readily comes to mind is the monk spade, and Cassowar isn't set up well like that at all. It'd be incredibly tough to use.
I wonder what kind of ceramic they use in the ceramic dagger. We don't exactly have that capability now, but the design is solid. Its used in the reverse grip, which was rather popular with daggers. It's used curve inward, which might make it decent with grappling.
The blade on Dark Sword is fine. The two holes at the bottom might be a structural issue, but I think it'd perform decently.
The hilt is interesting, kind of similar to the Filipino pira. The curve on the bottom keeps it secure in the hands during heavy swings. I haven't seen what the offshoot portion is for, but it might serve as a place to grip for the occasional two-handed swing.
It's a better setup for cut-centric swords, and the blade looks cut and thrust. But it'd work just fine.
They really like making rapiers look fragile, and Destreza isn't an exception. The thickness is more like a smallsword, and the curved tang would be a massive weak point. There's no place to finger the guard on the grip, which is something you do with most rapiers in order to get the point in line with the extended arm. Overall, not the best.
There's something I've never been able to figure out about nikana and dragon nikana. Is this entire thing the sword, or is it a sword and sheath?
The dual kamas are a bit big, but some martial arts use dual kamas, so... It's a thing.
THough some like dual Raza look kind of silly.
I think Ether reaper is another scythe technically, but it looks kind of like an oversized version of the Congolese kuba.
A lot of the dual daggers like Fang here are perfectly fine. Though they call these stilletos, and... They're not.
I think the gazal machete is backwards, because the grip is curved so that it stays in your hand easier. But the edge looks like it's on the wrong side for that.
*Laughing at ghouls saw*
The guandao is pretty much a slightly exaggerated version of the... Chinese guandao.
I don't understand how halikar works, but you had me at jet powered throwing mace.
The karyst has a wavy blade shape like the flamberge or Kris. Maybe Kris has something to do with its name... One reason for this blade design was to throw off opponents by being weirder than a normal blade to parry against.
Karyst prime is just weird though
Attack boomerangs don't traditionally return, but they did look a lot like kestrel here.
