21Wow Shadowlands will deliver a controversial yet intriguing new feature called Covenants. Each of the (4) four Covenants (Kyrian, Necrolord, Venthyr and Night Fae) offer a class covenant ability and a special ability more or less similar to a racial. Undoubtedly, the Covenant System will offer compelling and exciting game play as well as interesting class Changes. Along with a ton of rewards, including mounts, xmogs and accessories, Covenants offers the potential to be game breaking and changing in a great way - if not for one thing .
Choosers remorse is where the issue lies, perhaps Blizzard states it best "Choose wisely. Changing Covenants is not difficult, but returning to a previously abandoned Covenant will be very difficult." If you're a competitive player who delves into both Pve or Pvp or even a casual player who enjoys playing more than one roll with a class, Covenants are going to be a HUGE issue for you.

In the expanded worlds of Azeroth, the Afterlife exists, a realm controlled by one of four powerful groups: Kyrian, Necrolords, Night Fae, and Venthyr. These groups, called Covenants, each hold their own purpose, responsibilities, and focus, fulfilling crucial roles in the smooth operation of the Afterlife.
Souls cross into the Shadowlands to be judged by the Arbiter, who assigns most souls to the care of a Covenant. In that Covenant's realms, these souls work out their burdens, hone their Anima, and take their places among their ranks in eternity. A few souls are deemed so vile, so incapable of atonement for their past deeds that they are imprisoned in The Maw, a prison for those who have fallen so low that they are incapable of redemption.
As a powerful hero, you will step into this Afterlife as one who has a foot in the worlds of both the living and the dead. Unlike the dead of the Shadowlands, you will have the choice of aligning with a Covenant that appeals to you and your nature.
This choice will have a profound effect on the entire game, as you will work toward proving your worth to your chosen Covenant, align yourself with powerful Covenant-specific denizens, and play out an entire campaign and storyline specific to that Covenant. In Battle of Azeroth, you played out one of two campaigns based on your faction, Horde or Alliance. In Shadowlands, you will be able to choose one of four campaigns: those of the Kyrian, Necrolord, Night Fae, or Venthyr.
