WRC Generations - The FIA WRC Official Game (2022) - Every PC Rally Game
WRC Generations - The FIA WRC Official Game by KT Racing / Nacon, 2022.
The final game of Kylotonn's WRC involvement eschewed the number 11 from the title, instead calling itself WRC Generations, and heaping on the classic content still further than WRC 10.
It's also a lot brighter looking than the previous game, with few of the near-dark tree-lined stages. This can mean the lighting (on occasion) looking VERY artificial, making everything look like plastic. Sometimes things look great, other times they look terrible! The framerate is a bit of an issue, I'm using G-SYNC here to try to smooth it out, but some clips are lacking a few FPS here and there.
Sound is okay, but the Subaru Impreza sounds AWFUL compared to WRC 10, I think they used the wrong engine noise altogether! Handling is pretty good, especially on tarmac, where you feel like a king as you just avoids grazing the walls! Although, like many of the games, it's a challenge to set up a steering wheel so it feels right in the first place...
There seems to be a lot more puddles in this game (check the UK stage out!) but they all reflect the sky a bit too much and look rather white in nature. At least the water splash effects are meaty!
There are a large number of extra stages and locations plugged into the game, including events that didn't run in 2022 (like the UK!) so there's plenty to do here, with lots of career and championship modes. As an alternative to the Codemasters' titles like DiRT 2.0 this was a very good effort overall. It's also funny to see Jon Armstrong's Junior WRC car with the EA Sports logos deleted (his previous one lacked the DiRT RALLY TEAM logos!).
