The death of men of working-age in Europe because of the World War.
* To fight the first world war millions of soldiers had to be recruited from around the world and moved to the frontlines.
* The use of machine guns, tanks, aircraft, chemical weapons etc. on a massive scale resulted in 9 million deaths and 20 million injured. * Most of them cuere men of working age which drastically reduced the healthy, strong and skilled workforce in Europe
* As the members of a family veduced, their house hold incomes also declined after the war.
* Women stepped in to do the jolas that were larlier done by men.
