* In Urban areas, middle class comprising law yers, teachers, students etc., peasants in rural areas, tribals in forest areas and plantation workers of tea gardens. The different social groups interpreted the message of Mahatma Gandhi in their own way. * Peasants in rural areas-Their move ment was against talukdars and landlords who demanded high rent and a variety of other taxes from peasants.
