Writing the word "hope" in Textura Quadrata

Here I write the word "hope" using a reed pen to try to illustrate how to pen the hairline strokes on ascenders and descenders. I also add a couple hairline flourishes to the 'e'—note how I place the pen flat against the crossbar to wet it again before pulling the ink out in a long hairline. The technique for a metal nib is the same, just on a smaller scale (that is more difficult to do while holding a phone with your other hand).
