When you think of the early days of the Alien franchise, it is safe to say that the franchise is a whiplash. The first movie was this gritty and gripping science fiction horror. Then you had the second film, Aliens, perfect as an action film. And then… things got a bit weird. Alien three came out from David Fincher in 1992, to a crowd that was fresh off of the Aliens. And it was everything no one was expecting. It was not a thrill. It was a philosophical funeral for the beloved characters. While we, the audience, watched it on screen and judged it for all the strange visuals and plot points, behind the scenes, this movie was a wreck. Bad scripts, rotating directors and studio sabotage, everything was added on together, creating an absolute chaos that David Fincher, who was a music video wunderkind back then, had to deal with.
