The daylight wanes and the need to find shelter becomes paramount. Nighttime in Rust is fraught with peril, and those without a place to recuperate and stay out of sight will be vulnerable to the wild land's many dangers. Bandits skulk behind rocks and trees, armed and armored, looking for easy prey from whom to steal. Zombies and wildlife such as wolves and bears lurk at the edges of the darkness, concealed enough to grant them the element of surprise. The darkness itself assails those caught in it, slowly and almost imperceptibly growing darker throughout the night, becoming increasingly isolating, until for a time nothing at all can be seen, and to light a torch or shine a flashlight in such darkness, even for a few seconds, is to reveal one's location and call out to those who would make a hunt of one so lost in the dark.
