Xak - The Art of Visual Stage (MSX) - [Part 01] -- The Pixie and the Tree Spirit
Created by developer Micro cabin in 1989, the Xak series is a series of action role playing games that follow a similar format to the Ys franchise. Unfortunately, it is sort of unknown outside Japan. There are 5 games in all, 3 mainline titles and two spin offs. This will focus on the first game in the series.
Both Xak and Xak II entries were even bundled together on the PC engine similar to Ys, with assistance from lifetime falcom rival Nihon Telenet. Early entries feature art by Kia Asamiya (Martian successor Nadesico). This video walkthrough will present the MSX2 version of the game, tentatively titled. Xak: the art of visual stage. I wanted to be able to showcase one of the original incarnations of the game before moving to the newer Super Famicom Port.
Credits go to Woomb for providing a solid translation script for the game. Enjoy the eery but forboding opening which sadly is missing from the SFC port.
