I am of the mindset that the stage is set of Xbox. After acquiring Bethesda, their first party portfolio addresses most genres ranging from open world RPGs, to stealth, to FPS games, racing, and even sims. Moving forward, the clear next move for them is to attack the third party and we're already seeing that between SEGA and Square Enix. Extracting Octopath Traveler from Nintendo and getting it on Xbox before the admittedly more fitting PlayStation is a sign that things are changing. Combine that with the writing on the wall with SEGA as well as ATLUS and something is happening eventually.
