XCOM: Enemy Within - Long War - Alternative loadout for Sectopods?
In last video I said that it's better to use 3 rocketeers than 3 MECs. Is it better? Kind of. You are still under the mercy of RNG both in damage you deal, chance if sectopod hits you and how much damage it will do.
In the almost same combo of people I've managed to down one sectopod on first go, but the second managed to do his magic. Thankfully RNG was kind enough to let those soldiers live.
I find it quite funny, that the whole preparation for temple mission, ultimately lies to prepare for those two sectopods. Rest of the enemies are more or less easily dealt with. Encounter with uber Etheral also relies on some RNG luck - Etheral reflect damage shenanigans.
Do you maybe have any ideas how to beat those 2 sectopods without taking any chances on being hit? Have maybe devs themselves, said somewhere how to deal with them? I know one of the dev team said that he finished the mod few times.
Ultimately bringing 12 rocketeers with blaster launcher and 3 rockets should be walk in the park, since Etherals can't reflect AoE damage. 12 Gunners also might do the trick even better with double fire.
