Xenonauts is very much like original X-Com - with real-time geoscape, intercepting alien aircraft, technology research, base building, and of course turn-based tactical combat with persistent soldiers. Take control of the organization battling an alien invasion in this deep and challenging strategy game. Developed by Goldhawk Interactive and as you have guessed this is the sequel to Xenonauts, but deeper and better. They raised 191.000 pounds on Kickstarter in mid-2018 and that was a success. The action takes place in the modern-day - but in an alternative timeline where decades of alien interference has prevented the end of the Cold War, leaving NATO and the Soviet Union on the brink of a catastrophic nuclear war. Xenonauts-2 is not a chronological sequel to the first Xenonauts but an updated portrayal of similar events. The Geoscape has been significantly expanded since the first game with the intention of giving the player more choices to make and offering them more freedom. The simulation of your base is also deeper than the first game - not only are you juggling living space and working space for your staff but power capacity, storage space, food consumption and much more. ATLAS is where you house the soldiers, scientists, and engineers that serve your organization. Each of your staff can serve in a variety of roles depending on what structure they are assigned to - e.g. a scientist becomes a researcher in a Lab and a doctor in a Medical Room. Fresh supplies and new staff are flown to ATLAS by your helicopter, but this prevents it from deploying combat troops - so time your supply runs carefully! The tech tree is much wider and more varied than in the original game. We're adding new types of "development" research that improve and upgrade existing equipment keeping it relevant for longer. The game is in development on Windows PC and is due to launch into Early Access on Steam and GOG in the next few months. I, personally, can't wait to try this one out.
