Xenophage: Alien Bloodsport (known in-game as simply Xenophage) is a shareware 2D sci-fi fighting game developed by Argo Games and published by Apogee for MS-DOS PCs on April 26, 1996. It was later digitally re-released as freeware on April 24, 2006.
The game is known for its heavy use of both pre-rendered 3D graphics and camera scaling (the latter similar to the Art of Fighting series), as well as a soundtrack by Robert Prince (best known for composing the first-person shooters Doom and Doom II: Hell on Earth). It also includes fatalities (the "Overkill" system) and the "Resurrection" system (where players can recover a small amount of life once defeated using a special technique).
In the game's story, two ordinary humans (Nick and Selena) are abducted by a mysterious alien "Council" and must fight several other alien species in holographic simulations to defend humanity from destruction.
The game originally received a pre-release demo, dated on December 28, 1995, and was later included in the 3D Realms Anthology compilation.
