0So first off this year its going to be either a TOP 20 list or a TOP 30 list (2021s list where 20 games, 2020s list where 10 games with 5 honorable mentions and 26 candidates total, 11 if you dont count the ones that made it into the top 10 and into the 5 honorable mentions slot, 2019 list where 31 games).
You could say the 2020 list only being 10 games was kinda a reaction to the 2019 list being 31 games. Althought i believe that year (2019) there was no honorable mentions.
Ofcourse 2021 i got back to not making the list only a TOP 10 but instead had more games alongside honorable mentions.
Now a quick note on honorable mentions i feel its fine as long as its 1-7 or so honorable mentions i feel it it went up to 10 that would feel like to many.
Ofcourse for this year 2022 if i feel that if its needed i wont hesitate into making it a Top 30 list instead of a Top 20 list.
The Top 20 list is all but guaranteed so far due to the amount of candidates there will be and the caliber of games in general.
2022 GoTY Candidates (Numbered in no particular order)
1. Dont Starve Console Edition (Shipwrecked/Hamlet DLC) (PS4) I forgot if i had gotten RoG, Reigns of Giants at an earlier point since i used to play a lot of dont starve back in the day.
2. Dont Starve Together Console Edition (PS4) (Its an individual game totally seperate from the SP, Singleplayer stuff and can actually be played like singleplayer aswell especially if you set it to public and then setup a password). It has new characters and character refresh basically new character reworks also it got costumes and new trophies. (Sadly you might remember how RoG/Shipwrecked/Hamlet did not get any specific trophies for them sadly since back then they did not enjoy achivements and they had to make ones for Sony specifically for Dont Starve Console Edition. (I mean i still hope they could go back to RoG/Shipwrecked/Hamlet and code in some trophies). Since if we follow what the trophies was for regular Dont Starve then it could be tied to character unlocks and maybye even a few other things aswell.

(Wild Arms) (PS4) Not decided yet if im gonna allow it into the GOTY 2022 or not due to the fact that it could easily win considering back when i got it originally im pretty certain i got it after FFVII back in the day even though it was released a year earlier. Also considering its easily up there with Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI/VII/IX, Breath of Fire III, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Chrono Cross, Alundra, Final Fantasy XIII-3 (A.K.A Lightning Returns)
6.-9. Wolfenstein Alt History Collection (PS4) (I will consider each game individually btw).

Resident Evil Revelations (PS4) (Played this back on the Nintendo 3DS and even had the accsessory for it that allowed dual stick control wich was recommended i even still have the special box for it. (Nintendo 3DS Circle Pad Pro + Resident Evil Revelations) i did ofcourse finish it back then but yeah this is ofcourse an HD remaster of sorts of the game and it still looks nice.

24. Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated (PS4)
25. Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Collection (FFVI now included so FFI-FFVI) (PC)
26. Hearthstone: Murder At Castle Nathria (Expansion) (PC) i have skipped previous expansions techically i count has skipped if i havent pre order an expansion since previously the one i most recently pre order before Murder At Castle Nathria was the Scholomance Academy Expansion. (Meaning i missed Madness at the Darkmoon Faire, Forged in the Barrens, United in Stormwind, Fractured in Alterac Valley, Voyage to the Sunken City) this means ofcourse missing out on 5 new heroes/portraits.
