Final Fantasy VII: Cloud's initial hair design
Originally, the character design for Cloud featured slicked-back, black hair with a spiky front. This was intended to contrast with Sephiroth's long, flowing silver hair, but also to optimize polygon usage. However, to enhance Cloud's prominence as the main protagonist, Nomura changed his design to feature spiky blond hair instead. Elements of Cloud's original design were subsequently incorporated into the character Angeal Hewley for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.
