XG III in all of its 4:3 ratio glory! Xtreme G is a series that was supposed to be a competitor to F-Zero X and WipeOut but never quite lived up to expectations overall. The original Extreme G on N64 is a overhyped relic. A great idea that should have never been attempted on the hardware. The blurriness and fog of the original made it incredibly hard to actually see where you were going especially at speed, defeating the purpose of the game.

XG III on Gamecube is a much better game with great track design and art direction. The issue here are the controls at higher speeds. Even the 250G league (which I'm playing here) can be finicky with the controls in the cornering. Drifting and braking doesn't feel as intuitive as it should be even with analog triggers. The higher speed leagues make this even worse. But at 250G, i was able to manage it and still had fun.

With Turok and Turok 2 available on PC and current era consoles as well as Shadowman, I'd love to see a remaster of XGIII and XGRA. I'm not so sure about the first two games in the Extreme G series but XG III and XGRA still have a lot of potential especially since Nintendo has no desire to re-release F-Zero GX on Switch or allow Sega to make a sequel.
