Hope fully this video will clear up some of the issues surrounding the recent firmware and app updates for the Xiaomi Dafang and DF3 smart cameras.
The problem appears to be Xiaomi trying to split the market between the official Chinese market and the US or EU markets.
If you have bought your device from a grey market seller you may find that your devices MAC address has been blacklisted from the Xiaomi servers, thus giving the timeout error or latency 1000 message.
There are a number of EU and US sellers that license the Xiaomi designs and sell them under different names and sometimes with different servers and applications.
In order for the value added brands to sell the devices in their respective markets they need to remove the ability for the grey market devices from the market and it seems that this is possibly what has happened.
To be clear, this is not factual information but going on the information we have to hand and the possibility of getting devices white listed this seems the most likely scenario.
