Released in late November 2010, X'mas Collections: Music from SQUARE ENIX features seven tracks from Square Enix games such as Final Fantasy VII, Seiken Densetsu 2 (Legend of Mana) and Chrono Trigger, remixed to add a holiday flair.

The disc comes in a cardboard digipak, which means there's nowhere to hide its accompanied spine card. The photos on the cover and inside of the digipak are of real objects, including Square Enix toys and plushes, in a home setting and bathed in warm light. It's a very nice touch, which I like a lot.

There are only 7 tracks, which is a bit scant for the price (I paid about $20 USD from http://www.play-asia.com ). The music is recognizable if you're familiar with the source game, and the bells and strings used to give a Christmas sound are well placed and not overbearing. The Jeuno-Starlight Celebration arrangement from Final Fantasy XI is a standout track.

Though a bit pricey, this album is a nice little collection to have, and perfectly suits the holiday season. Check it out from your favorite import site, grab a cup of hot cocoa and sink into your favorite chair for some Christmas cheer.
