Gerald "Jerry" Lawson passed away on the morning of April 9th at the age of 70. Lawson, the only black member of the famous computer hobbyist group the Homebrew Computer Club and creator of Demolition Derby, one of the earliest coin-op arcade games. He also developed the Fairchild VES, or Channel F, during his time with Fairchild Semiconductors in the 1970s. The Channel F was the first system with interchangeable cartridges. The next time you swap a game out of your DS or Xbox 360, take a moment to remember Lawson's pioneering innovations.
