The Chinese company Xpeng Motors is preparing to launch a large electric P7 sedan that will compete with Tesla products.
Tesla Model S has been produced since 2012 and is already preparing to try on pension status, and numerous startups from around the world do not abandon attempts to release its analogue. Among them - the Chinese company Xiaopeng Motors from the city of Guangzhou, it is also abbreviated Xpeng Motors. This company was founded in 2014, when the Chinese auto industry was full of illusions regarding the bright future of electric vehicles, generously fertilized with government subsidies. Unfortunately for industrialists, the PRC government subsequently decided to gradually abandon the stimulation of electric vehicle sales at the expense of the budget, which caused a sharp drop in demand for them - we will evaluate the scale of the disaster in January, when statistics for the full year 2019 appear.
Meanwhile, those electromobile startups that have not yet gone bankrupt continue to operate, forced to somehow account for the money received from investors. So Xpeng Motors, which has Alibaba Group and IDG Capital in the main investors, also pretends that everything is fine with it, that life is just beginning. Its first electric car, the compact crossover G3, she showed back in September 2016, promising to start its release within a few months. Alas, the preparation for the production was delayed, and the serial version of the “green” SUV went on sale only in 2018 - only 371 copies were released and sold. In 2019, things went better: in the first 11 months, Xpeng G3 found 15,123 buyers, but this circulation does not correspond at all to the ambitions of the founders of Xiaopeng Motors. And now the big Xpeng P7 sedan hurries to help G3. The Xpeng P7 premiered in November at the Guangzhou Motor Show, and pre-orders were launched at the same time, and earlier this week details about the new product that were hidden earlier became known.
With a wheelbase of 3000 mm and a body length of 4900 mm, the Xpeng P7 is comparable to the Tesla Model S, but in reality it will compete with the more compact Tesla Model 3 sedan of the Chinese assembly, the sales of which will begin on December 30 at a price of 355,800 yuan (3.14 million rubles translated at the current rate). Xpeng is going to give a larger, similar to Model S P7 sedan cheaper - from 240,000 yuan (2.12 million rubles). For this money, the consumer will receive a rear-wheel drive version with a capacity of 196 kW (267 hp), capable of accelerating to 100 km / h in 6.7 s and equipped with batteries with a capacity of 80.87 kW · h. The full charge should be enough for 550 km of run on the "vegetable" driving cycle NEDC, which is still relevant in China.The top two-engine all-wheel drive version of High Performance Edition is estimated at 370,000 yuan (3.27 million rubles). It is equipped with the same battery at 80.87 kW · h, but the total electric motor power is 316 kW (430 hp), and acceleration to 100 km / h takes 4.3 s. The declared range is the same 550 km on the NEDC cycle.
Finally, for 270 thousand yuan (2.38 million rubles), an intermediate version with rear-wheel drive, but increased to 650 km by the NEDC power reserve, is offered. The increase of 100 km was achieved due to a more capacious battery, but the manufacturer has not yet disclosed a specific value.Shipment of ordered cars to consumers will begin only in the second quarter of next year. Buyers should be attracted by the premium status of the model, which implies generous equipment (promised, in particular, high-end audio system and autopilot of the third level according to SAE classification). The minimalist interior is decorated with expensive materials, and the dashboard consists of two screens with diagonals of 10.25 and 14.97 inches.
So far, the Xpeng P7 is available for order only in China, but it is possible that in the near future Xpeng Motors will try to enter foreign markets, in particular the European one, where state subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles are not reduced but increased .
