Developed and published by Fabrizio Caruso, Cross Snake is a fourth "universal" 8-bit game. Its size is similar to Cross Chase and can be run on an unexpanded Commodore 16 or a Commodore Vic 20 with +8k memory expansion. It's his personal re-interpretation of Nibbler (an arcade game) to which he has added more game elements.

Cross-Lib is a retro-hardware abstraction layer for coding "universal" games with the very same code for hundreds of mostly 8-bit systems (consoles, computers, scientific calculators, hand-held consoles, arcade boards, hacked toy computers, etc.).

Cross-Lib is a WORA (Write Once Run Anywhere) framework for vintage systems, i.e., you code a game once in an abstract hardware-agnostic way and Cross-Lib produces the very same game for about 200 vintage systems.

The version seen here is the Master System version. XSnake is also on Atari Lynx, Game Gear, Apple II, Colecovision, Amstrad CPC, GameBoy, MSX, NES, PC Engine and even Watara Supervision.

Cross Snake is a snake clone where you have to collect enough apples to move to the next stage. In this game, you can hit the walls and not lose a life, but avoid mines and do not hit your own tail. Plus, you will also need to finish the stage in a time limit, as your snake goes faster. You can also collect dollar bills for points, white rings for a bonus and blue rings for energy.
