Xtreme Pickups - TurboGrafx 16 Console Bundle (Review/Quick Gameplay)
7Hey guys, Mr. Xtreme back in rare form with a new pickup. This time I get a TurboGrafx 16 console bundle from ebay. For those unaware, the TurboGrafx 16 was made by NEC (old Computer company) and was the first console marketed as a 16-Bit machine to dethrone the 8-Bit Nintendo NES/Famicom. It was initially released in 1987 as the PC Engine in Japan where it became a big success with tons of games available. It didn't get a US release until 1989 where it was unfortunately overshadowed by the Sega Genesis which was released the same year. As a result, this system did not last very long on the market and only a small amount of games for it were ever released here in the US.
While it may not have been successful financially, that's not to say that it's a bad system because the opposite is true. From what I seen and heard retroactively, it had some great games available for it which is why I wanted to pick one up to try them out. In the video I show the console and accessories I got with it (was a nice deal for what it was, I'll tell you that much lol), talk a bit about the hardware, and play a bit of the game I got for it which was Keith Courage in Alpha Zones (the original pack-in title for it), also stick around at the end for some other info about it and collector tips.
