Xubuntu 17.04 Overview – I Love Xfce And So Should You!
255In this video we take a look at Xubuntu 17.04 and Ubuntu based distro using the Xfce desktop environment. I show you some of the simple tweaks I've made and present the case why Xfce is such a gorgeous and custom friendly desktop environment that everyone should check out.
Xfce Tweaks
Turn off compositor so you don't get screen tearing especially when browsing web,
- Window Manager Tweaks
- Compositor - uncheck
Caffeine Indicator: keep screensaver from turning on while watching movies.
Right click on Mouse launcher (Start Button) click ‘Edit Applications’ to hide certain apps from view or to organize them.
Indicators on right-hand side where volume and network can be found. You can also right click and change views and organize the indicators.
Add Directory Menu and move to desired location on panel
Add Login/Logout Menu
Add-ons:
- Cairo dock for easy application launching
- Replace Thunar with Nautilus
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nautilus
Preferred Applications – Nautilus
- Install Conky and Conky Manager
