00:00 Video Start
In the previous episode, USS Montpelier (688 Flight III) destroyed the PLAN convoy sailing from Qingdao to Hong Kong, as well as destroyed an at-sea replenishment group consisting of a tender and escorts. Our current assignment is to intercept ANOTHER PLAN attempt to send a convoy to Hong Kong, from Ningbo this time.

07-OCT-2000 East China Sea
PRIORITY MISSION: Intercept PLAN convoy from Ningbo to Hong Kong.
01:25 Can't Avoid Them All
We are trying to avoid contacts all over East China Sea while looking for the convoy. We ended up bumping into a few underwater contacts.
We tried to disengage, but a Romeo happened to active ping us at point-blank (under 10 km), forcing us to use a torpedo on it.
08:42 Avoiding contact
We then disengaged from 2 Hans, then another single Han. With 4 torpedoes remaining, we spotted the convoy.
11:30 Engaging convoy
The convoy consists of 2 x Jianghu3 frigates escorting a Fuqing and a Qiongsha. Given PLAN tactics, there is probably a submarine hiding in front of the convoy. We decided to launch 3 torpedoes to engage Fuqing, Qiongsha, and one of the Jianghu3 frigates, ignoring the rest. We were successful and the enemy had no idea how to respond. Mission accomplished. We disengaged with 1 torpedo remaining.
COMSUBPAC was pleased.
21:50 New Mission Received
NEW PRIORITY MISSION: Destroy enemy submarines carrying commandos on their way to attack Scarborough Shoals in South China Sea.
With 1 torpedo remaining, we tried to evade to southeast, only to bump into one more underwater contact.
22:05 Use that last torpedo
We used the last torpedo to eliminate a Ming, and headed for Guam.
31:25 Arriving at Guam
Upon arrival, we reloaded to our new loadout: 5 MOSS decoys, and 21 Mk 48 MOD 6 torpedoes, along with the standard 4 TASM and 8 TLAM VLS loadout.
What happens next... will have to go in the NEXT episode.

In the hypothetical Cold Waters (DotMod) Y2000 NATO campaign, Taiwan declared independence, and Great Britain delayed returning Hong Kong to China after massive protests. China threatened retaliation, which crashed the Asian economy. Russia decided to have an arms fire sale to China... and China is buying naval assets (along with Russian "advisors") to take over the South China Sea and its resources, plus attacks on nearby countries. NATO decided to intervene... and the first response was US Navy Submarines... Specifically, USS Montpelier, a Flight III 688-class nuclear attack submarine...
