야오링이라 불리는 신비한 생명체들과 함께 모험하고, 부적으로 포획하며, 전투와 마을 경영까지 즐길 수 있는 수집형 액션 RPG입니다. 필드를 탐험하며 야생 야오링과 마주치면 전투를 벌이거나, 부적을 던져 원거리에서 포획을 시도할 수도 있습니다.
전투는 자동으로 움직이는 아군 야오링과 부적으로 보조하는 플레이어의 조합으로 진행됩니다. 초기에는 최대 7마리까지 파티를 구성할 수 있으며, 전투에는 5마리까지 출전할 수 있는대, 플레이어의 랭크에 따라서 편성할 수 있는 야오링의 수가 증가하죠. 아군 치료, 적 도발, 공격 등 다양한 효과를 가진 부적을 적절한 타이밍에 사용하는 것이 전투의 핵심입니다.
체력이 다한 아군은 쓰러지지만, 전투 종료 후 SP를 소모해 회복시킬 수 있습니다. 포획 부적은 전투 중 또는 필드에서 직접 던져 포획을 시도할 수 있으며, 성공 시 보관함으로 이동되어 파티에 편성하거나 마을 작업에 배치할 수 있죠. 단, 포획은 확률 기반이며 실패 시 적이 도망치거나 반격하기도 합니다.
각 야오링은 고유 스킬과 랜덤 특성을 가지고 있어 조합에 따라 전투 스타일이 달라지며, 특성에 따라 마을 내 건물에 배치하여 식당, 공방 등 다양한 작업을 수행시킬 수 있습니다. 건물 업그레이드를 통해 더 많은 야오링을 배치할 수 있고, 스토리를 따라가며 건물과 기능도 점점 확장됩니다.
야오링 성장 외에도 부적 연구, 요리 제작, 낚시, 아이템 수집 등 다양한 사이드 콘텐츠가 존재하며, 숨겨진 상자나 자원은 맵 곳곳에 은근슬쩍 배치되어 있어 탐험의 재미도 큽니다.
부족한 전투 배속 기능이나 비교 UI의 불편함 등 일부 아쉬움은 있지만, 부적을 던져 포획하고 성장시키는 방식은 신선하며, 야오링과 함께 모험을 떠나는 재미를 충실히 전달해주는 작품입니다.

Yaoling: Mythical Journey is a creature-collecting action RPG where you explore a vibrant world, use talismans to capture mythical beings called Yaolings, and manage a village full of helpful monsters. As you roam the field, you’ll encounter wild Yaolings—some flee when approached, others charge at you—and you can either engage in battle or attempt to capture them from a distance using a well-aimed talisman.
Combat takes place in a separate arena, where your party of Yaolings fights automatically while you assist by casting talismans. These range from healing spells to damage-dealing charms or decoys that draw enemy attention. Talismans have cooldowns, so timing matters.
Initially, you can form a party of up to 7 Yaolings, with 5 allowed in battle—but this limit increases as your player rank goes up. If a Yaoling is knocked out during battle, it can be revived afterward using SP. You can also capture wild Yaolings mid-combat or directly in the field, and captured creatures are stored for later use. Successful captures depend on timing and distance, and failed attempts may cause the target to flee or retaliate.
Each Yaoling has unique combat abilities and randomized traits that affect both battles and village tasks. Stronger elite Yaolings may appear with enhanced stats or rare skills. Once captured, Yaolings can be assigned to buildings to produce resources, cook meals, earn money, or assist in crafting. Upgrading buildings allows you to assign more helpers and unlock additional features as the story progresses.
Outside of battle, you can research new talismans, cook stat-boosting meals, trade Yaolings at the inn, fish, gather materials, or discover hidden chests tucked away across the map. These elements add depth to the adventure and offer steady progression through exploration.
While the game lacks combat speed-up options and has some UI issues—like awkward comparisons and tooltip placement—it offers a charming mix of real-time action, strategic collection, and village simulation. If you enjoy monster taming with a fresh twist, Yaoling: Mythical Journey is worth a look.
