As a huge fan of 3D collectathon platformers including Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64 and Spyro the Dragon I was extremely excited when the Kickstarter for Yooka-Laylee, a spiritual successor to the Banjo-Kazooie series created by many of the same key developers, appeared and backed it instantly!

Well, the game's here now so what do I make of it? Is Yooka-Laylee a return to a golden era of gaming or have I been viewing all of those classics through rose tinted glasses and been too forgiving of the problems the genre has? Only one way to find out!
