So the issue of the black screen blocking the view was reported on the Steam forums as early as May 22, 2020. Since that time, there has been zero response from YouTube / Google. I did a review back in February praising the YouTube VR app and saying how the Steam negative reviews were wrong. Well, now it's just egg on my face. Google / YouTube have proven me wrong. I can no longer recommend this app, except for those starved for 180 / 360 VR video content and okay with dealing with a black screen (it can be hidden from 180 view completely).
