Nightmare Mode

Inside of Rasteenie Mine, Adol finds Dr. Flair and is requested to hunt down the ingredients for Lilia's medicine. On his way to the lower depths he's greeted by the game's warm up obstacle.

Definitely much more challenging than Jenocres, Velagunder actually surprised me on how quickly it demolished my HP. I guess I could've went back to town to upgrade equipment, but I was still in my Hard mode mindset and didn't expect so much damage output.

Unlike the first game, nearly every boss in this game is defeated by using the fire magic instead of bumping into them. Velagunder shoots out waves of energy that turns this from looking for an opening to bump to a miniature round of bullet hell, which is made slightly harder by the fact that its bullets curve. Your opening comes when its arms aren't blocking its main body, which you can either wait for or blast at until it decides to open up (not really recommended). Charged shots make this battle half as long, but then you need to make sure your aim is true so you don't waste any. You're free to heal yourself in the battle assuming you equipped the proper items before entering the fight, and you can actually leave the arena at any time if you choose to do so. After the creature in defeated, Adol eventually comes across the Celceta flower for Lilia's medicine in the lower depths, as well as the Evil Bell and Light Magic, both necessary for the future.
