Ahhhh, Ys. Back to this series, the final one of the series that I plan on streaming. There are two more games released, 8 and 9, but they're a bit too new for me to stream. This one has been a long time coming, I've been looking forward to seeing it ever since I played the recent version of 4. This was (other than that, obviously) the first time you had a party, after all. And so far? Well, it's Ys. Except that Adol successfully docked at the island instead of shipwrecking. So there's no real explanation as to why he suddenly is back to level 1 with no powers. Sigh. On the other hand, even at level 1, he is adept at the sword.

Balance has always been an issue with Ys and it has already shown up here. The early items are too easy to buy. Way too easy. I could grind the first area for not even that long and pick up a whole bunch of upgraded gear. Which would trivialize the next portions of the game. I already defeated the first boss, made easier because each char had one piece of upgraded armor, and a new weapon. Still, it is what it is. And I don't mind it at all. If I weren't streaming, I actually would absolutely have stayed in the area until I got all the upgraded gear I could feasibly get, and then moved on.
