[冤罪執行遊戯ユルキル/Yurukill: The Calumniation Games] Shmup Part Demo: Normal Mode
This is the shmup portion of the game's demo, approximately 3 HOURS after you start the game. I have my own criticisms about the pacing, but in a nutshell the game sure took a long time to reach the first court trial!

Yurukill seems to be a Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright-like game. Minigames for investigations, present evidences in court trials. If you like games like Ace Attorney and Danganronpa, I think Yurukill is worth checking out.
The main distinction of Yurukill is the court trial is mainly a shmupping affair! We already had machine gun talk battle, so a full-fledged shmup is the natural step forward. When I say full-fledged, it's complete with robust scoring system.
Since this is a shmup-focused channel, let's explain the shmupping stuff... You answer the starting quizzes. These determine your starting lives. Lives are not only for guarding you from enemy hits, but also from inputting wrong answers later on. Sounds really like Danganronpa and Ace Attorney here, no doubt. It's 70% shooting and 30% quizzes and presenting evidence. It has to be noted that the potential max lives to start on Normal seems to be 20. On Hard, it's halved: 10! Easy should be around 40. This advantage also stretches to the quiz so if you're either not good at finding contradictions, shmupping, or both, there is no shame in selecting Easy.
When you go pew pew pew, you can shoot, focus shot (with weird terms like charge shot, etc, while the 1st ship can only do focus Touhou style!) and since this is G.Rev, the unique part is the Outburst gauge. This is your resource for both the special lock-on weapon, not sure if this is consistent with other ships or exclusive to this demo ship, and the gauge is also for bombing. You can bomb and outburst shot when the gauge is 20% plus, recovered by either pointblanking or collecting the broken shards of the HUDs, which is quite cute, I have to add! There is this scoring system involving raising the combo by cancelling the bullets with the outburst stuffs Border Down style. This is so G.Rev. You can even gain extends! Funny that the secret extend items are also useful for bluffing. About survival, on Easy and Normal it should be easy since when you have 20%+ Outburst Gauge auto-bomb is ready to protect you from a full hit. On Hard? You must manually bomb. Good luck!
This demo is on the Switch version. Yeah, the performance is... so-so. I recommend the PS5 version instead. I think I'll get the game. I'm in mood for an Ace Attorney-like game and Capcom haven't announced anything, so this game will do the job.
