I prefer the cleaner Spriggan, but MUSHA has this great, non-stop energy. I love it!
MUSHA is one of the most beloved shmups within Mega Drive's library. It's by Compile. No wonder! Sadly the game didn't get any M2 STG treatment... but at least it's not Aleste Collection expensive. It's now available on Nintendo Switch Online. This is the version of MUSHA that I played.
In this game bullet cancelling is on the stingy side within Compile's library. But your firepower is great! You can have 2 options where you can adjust the formation and can shield you from bullets, but they're limited, be careful, then you can use one of the 3 elemental shots. In exchange of no bombs and stingy bullet cancelling, you can take lots of hits before you actually lose life! When you still have a power up you can sustain damage. You'll lose the power up, but hey, it protects your life. Also as usual extends are very abundant.
MUSHA isn't that hard of a game on Normal. One can argue it's a bit too easy. So easy to be honest, it doesn't have much to comment about even compared to Spriggan. It has the usual Compile variety, though, and one can say that its low difficulty makes MUSHA the easier game to pick up and play. At the very least make sure you increase your speed at the start of the game by pausing then press the directional button.
