One of the biggest stories of last year came in May when it was reported that Zack Snyder was stepping away from Justice League after a family tragedy. Joss Whedon took over directing duties and the rest, as they say, is history. Veteran entertainment reporter Josh L. Dickey however, recently revealed that he is now leaving the industry and his outlet Mashable, and took to Twitter for one last report - revealing that Snyder was actually fired in January or February of 2017, three months before the news broke that he was leaving Justice League.
According to Variety, Michael Fassbender has signed on to star in David Sandberg’s action-comedy Kung Fury. David Hasselhoff, who was in the original cult short film, is also on board to appear. Released in 2015, Kung Fury was a Kickstarter record-breaking success, and was selected for Cannes Directors Fortnight.
SWITCH THE SCRIPT
According to Deadline, Martin Scorsese’s latest – The Irishman – is now reported to be Scorsese’s most expensive film in the making. Originally budgeted for $125 million at Netflix, the costs are now said to be ballooning to $140 million range and climbing.
Yesterday, Blumhouse Pictures took to their Twitter account to announce that Chris Columbus has signed on to write, direct and produce their screen adaptation of Scott Cawthon’s popular video game Five Nights at Freddy’s. The movie based on the popular game centers on a security guard battling animatronic robots that come to life in a Chuck E. Cheese-like venue.
THR reports that Paul King, the director of the two acclaimed Paddington movies, is in final negotiations to direct Willy Wonka, a reimagining of Roald Dahl's classic children's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; that’s being developed at Warner Bros.
