This will be my final Zanac video, and this time around I'm using the hidden edit mode in order to set the game to the maximum possible difficulty. How do you do this? Well you remove the enemy/bullet limits that are naturally placed on the game. I play each version of Zanac with enemy limit = off and also on very hard, so this is truly the max difficulty setting for the game.

In order to access the Edit mode you will need to clear each of the 3 different Zanac versions: Disk, ROM, and Special. Once you do this you will have access to the edit game mode. The main factors that go into difficulty are the difficulty setting (very hard being the hardest), enemy accurate (256 is highest), and object limit (off removes the cap).

So how can you possibly survive such an onslaught? Well the only way to do it is to rack up enough lives through survival play during the stages. This basically involves taking advantage of the brief invincibility given to you by the power chips and weapons upgrades. The enemy erase (weapon 6) is also very, very useful to extend your survival time.

If you die on a fortress, you are essentially forced to do suicide runs on the turrets to kill them as quickly as possible. This chews up a lot of lives, so you better try and rack them up early in the game when things are more manageable.

I would say that the Disk or Rom versions are actually harder than the Special version because you not only have slightly weaker weapons, but you also don't get bonus points (and thus extra lives) for killing the fortresses quickly.
