Zap! The Magical Computer
I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH THAT DESPITE THE TEXT AT THE BEGINNING I AM NOT ANTHONY AMATO AND I DID NOT CREATE THIS FILM. Further information below:
This is an old 3D-animated educational film that I saw when I was a young child. My parents would rent the VHS tape from the library and I remember quite loving it back then; in my adulthood I kept thinking about it and wanting to watch it again, but I could barely find any trace of it on the internet; I DID find a list of uploads by a YouTube channel "sandiegomusician", posted about 9 years ago at time of writing, that seemed to have just about the entire tape's contents. The channel makes it clear that the uploader is the creator of Zap!, Anthony Amato, and I can extrapolate from context that this tape was meant to be a demo or pilot for a whimsical, educational children's TV show that never got a second episode; the characters in the video make mention of the video's status as a demo multiple times as a joke, something that went right over my head as a kid(as did many of the references).
Unfortunately the whole film was cut up into chunks on that channel, and it has this distracting text that appears at the beginning of almost all of the segments. I've tried to do my best to stitch them together in a mostly cohesive way so this film can be as enjoyable as possible for people who want to see it. Some of the text is still seen but I did my best to remove it where possible. during some of the transitions you may notice a few errant frames of scenes not seen elsewhere, which makes me think some parts were either cut from the film or not uploaded to Youtube.
I'm aware this could be perceived as stealing content, but please be reassured that nothing on this channel is currently monetized; if Anthony Amato (or John T. Quinn III, who is mentioned as a character designer in the description of one of the videos, or anyone else involved with the production) wants me to take this down, I'll gladly oblige. The purpose of this upload is just for convenience and to (hopefully) piece together some of the lore of Zap!'s creation for others who would search for it. Personally, I'd love to get my hands on a VHS or a higher quality rip of this, but I have yet to find one that's actually available! So this'll have to do for now.
