The Zeebo version of Quake, like the original version, is capable of loading custom files (maps, etc.). Yet, the paths are different, and, it looks like it is unable to load files which are not in the .pak archives. Therefore, one should pack the maps in a .pak file with the preferred tool for packing and unpacking Quake's .pak files; the .bsp maps should be placed in a "maps" folder inside the .pak archive; place the .pak file into the \mod\id1 folder of the SD card; then use the unlocked Zeebo's integrated EMAPPLET to transfer the file into the console's emmc storage.

Then one should modify the game's config.cfg file by adding the command "map map_name" to any of the buttons' bindings, and upload it to the console the similar way as above. This command will load the map of your choice. The config.cfg is located in the folder /mod/274802/udata/config.cfg.

During the stream of 12.09.2021 I wanted to show a custom map played with the Quake on the Zeebo. Unfortunately, the game makes something with the configuration file on exiting (either stripping the beginning of the file, or stripping it to default size). So, I was unable to trigger the loading of the custom levels.

The demonstrated map is a conversion of Doom 2's MAP01 Entrance level, made by Peter Lomax and released on 16.11.1997 (see https://www.quaddicted.com/reviews/doom2_01.html)

The music is the OG Doom II soundtrack for this map. It was played through OBS during the recording of the scene.
