Zelda Breath of the Wild- Why you Should use the Ancient Shield
1,127The Ancient Shield is an impressive piece of equipment in The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild that can be use to auto parry and reflect lasers. This shield can auto deflect any laser coming its way as long ad the shield is up and pointed in the general direct of the laser shot its way.
This is hands down the best shield in the game. It does not have the best durability in the game. The ancient shield has a defense rating of 70 and a durability rating of 32 while the Hylian shield has a defense rating of 9 and durability rating of 800. the ancient shield does have a couple of very interesting features. First off, it has the ability to auto parry lasers and second it is the best shield for shield surfing.
If you git gud shield parrying lasers you can use a pot lid to deflect lasers. If you are having a hard time shield parrying lasers then using an ancient shield is the best way to go.
You can buy the ancient shield at the Akala Ancient Tech lab in the North East region of the map after completing the side quest "Robbie's Research". Robbie requires a payment of 1,000 Rupees, 10 Ancient Gears, 15 Ancient Springs, and 1 Giant Ancient Core to craft one for Link.
The Hylian shield may have the highest durability in the game but it is not the best for shield surfing. The ancient shield can surf over rocks no problem and is by fastest shield for shield surfing.
