The goal: Get the Magical Key and get some levels!

Regarding the rules, save states are only allowed when I am ending a session. Rewinding is only allowed for me to practice killing an enemy, but I must let it take a life when I'm done practicing, even if it means a game over. Rewinding will not be used at all to brute force progression.
