The object of this game is to wake the Princess Zelda of an earlier generation, who had a spell cast on her by a magician, by obtaining the Triforce of Courage located in the Great Palace. This is achieved by placing 6 crystals, which were already given to Link by Impa at the start of the game, in the statues at the end of the 6 other palaces, which deactivates the Binding Force of the Great Palace. Along the way, Link must collect various items in the palaces to help him along the way, must learn 8 different magic spells, and must advance from a Level 1 status to Level 8 status in each of the Life, Magic, and Attack elements.

It goes from the title screen up to the point where Link exits a room of the Parapa Palace.
