Previously, after finding the Sols in the east and west parts of the Palace of Twilight, Link's sword got powered up! It can now cut through the black fog and dispel it briefly. Now, Link will go through the main keep and face Zant, the pretender to the Twilight Realm's throne.

Now, Link advances north up the ramp. Past some Shadow Birds, he will find a curtain of dark fog. He can dispel it briefly with a spin attack.

He heads north into the main keep (time 1:05). Just inside, be careful of Twilit Keese flying overhead and Shadowlings emerging from the black fog. To the north, there are two orbs to place into recesses on the floor below. This activates a stairway leading up to the western ledge. On the western ledge, he needs to power the orb with his sword to activate a lift. The lift takes him to the eastern ledge, where a Twilit Deku Baba and several Masks of Zant await.

After defeating the Masks of Zant, Link finds a chest that contains a Small Key (time 3:13).

Then, by spin-attacking in between three orbs, he powers up a lift taking him up to the western door on 3F.

Link goes west out to the balcony (time 3:46). There are numerous Shadow Birds and a Shadow Being out here. Spin-attacking the orbs on the western part of the ledge activates a lift that takes Link to the southern ledge. There, he will find the first Mask of Zant to defeat. To reach the other Masks, he will have to activate another lift that will take him back to the main ledge. Defeating all the Masks of Zant reveals a chest north of the locked door.

The chest contains a Small Key (time 6:51).

Between the doors, Link finds a curtain of black fog. After clearing out three Shadow Birds, he can grapple up the walls.

At the top, he finds a chest containing the Big Key (time 7:42).

Then, Link goes through the northern door leading east (time 8:25). In this room, he will first get waylaid by Shadow Beings. Once they are gone, he will be able to reach a lift that he can call by spin-attacking the four orbs.

After going up, he first has to jump west, then northwest, and Clawshot west to the ledge with a Twilit Deku Baba. Then he can jump to the northern lift, which will take him east. He will come in range of a Mask of Zant, which he will have to defeat after Clawshotting east. He can Clawshot to the southern target, and then to a target on a pillar from the ceiling, which will let him drop onto a lift. To the west, he can Clawshot ahead and then defeat another Mask of Zant. Defeating both Masks reveals a chest.

This final chest in the dungeon contains a Small Key (time 10:39).

Afterwards, Link can hop onto the new platform east of the west-central ledge. It takes him up to 4F and deposits him near the door.

Link goes north through the locked door (time 11:12). In the antechamber before the throne room, he will face a last stand of Shadow Beings. Prepare for each wave with a spin attack.

Finally, Link heads north through the door to the throne room (time 12:09). Ahead, he will find Zant on Midna's throne. After railing against Midna's family, Zant reveals the source of his power: the evil Ganondorf, whom Zant sees as a god. So, Ganondorf has been using Zant for his own ends.

Afterwards, it is time for the long-awaited encounter against the Usurper King, Zant (time 16:22). He will give Link a kind of boss rush. First, in Diababa's lair in the Forest Temple, he will hover over the poison muck and fire energy at Link. Link must bring him down with the Gale Boomerang and then strike.

Second, Zant will take Link to Biggoron's chamber in the Goron Mines. He will pound on the platform to try to knock Link off. Link should wear the Iron Boots. Then, Zant will fire energy at him. While Zant is recovering, Link can rush forward and attack.

Third, Zant will take Link to Morpheel's lair in the Lakebed Temple. Link will need the Zora Armor, the Iron Boots, and the Clawshot. A massive mask will emerge and reveal Zant, who will fire energy at Link. Link must pull him out with the Clawshot and slash him. Afterwards, four massive masks will emerge, and Zant will be in one of them at random.
