Previously, Link defeated the big, bad boss of the Goron Mines and got his second Fused Shadow. Back in Kakariko Village, he got the Bombs from Barnes Bombs, a few Pieces of Heart, and the Hawkeye from the Malo Mart. Now, it is time to move on to Lanayru Province.
The Malo Mart sells Arrows after Link gets the Hawkeye, so he heads to the mart to refill his quiver (time 1:14).
Then, riding Epona, Link goes northwest, jumping the gate and exiting to the Bridge of Eldin section of Hyrule Field (time 2:04).
Soon after he arrives, he is again waylaid by the postman (time 2:30). The postman delivers the letter 'URGENT! Bomb arrows!' from Barnes Bombs. This letter describes the procedure for using Bomb Arrows, which is a very powerful technique.
First, close to where the trail from Kakariko Village joins the main part of Hyrule Field, Link bombs a boulder on the right-hand side of the road (time 3:31). This will allow him to proceed across an outcropping and up some vines. Along the way, he will have to use a Bomb Arrow to destroy a boulder.
After dropping down a couple of times, he will find a treasure chest containing Piece of Heart #12 (time 4:47).
In the southwest of this part of the field, Link crosses a wooden bridge to check out a pass that adjoins directly to the Kakariko Gorge section of the field (time 5:53). This pass is clogged by boulders to prevent early exploration of the Bridge of Eldin area, but Link can now clear that blockage with a Bomb or a Bomb Arrow.
Afterwards, Link rides northeast and across the Bridge of Eldin. The Gale Boomerang will be useful for stunning the avian enemies without prolonged combat.
To the north of the Bridge of Eldin, Link's progress is blocked by more boulders (time 7:47). He must blast them with a Bomb or a Bomb Arrow to open the way. When he does, however, a warp opens in the sky, and the villains steal part of the bridge! Worse, three more Shadow Beings are deposited on the near side of the bridge.
So, Link battles the Shadow Beings (time 8:33). As in his wolf form, Link must defeat the last two at once, which should be a doddle with spin attacks. When they are defeated, Link gains control of the warp, but there are two problems. For one thing, the bridge section remains missing. For another, the warp is directly over the hole in the bridge, so Link cannot use it until he restores that bridge section.
So, Link continues northwest past the Bridge of Eldin area (time 9:27). He finds a path leading west.
After crossing a bridge to the west, he finds himself at the curtain of twilight at the entrance to Lanayru Province (time 9:59). Midna will pop out. Hopefully, this will be the last twilit section of Hyrule.
Then, Link approaches the curtain of twilight and asks Midna to yank him through into Lanayru Province (time 10:26). He has barely crossed the threshold before he turns into a wolf again.
The path to the west is infested with Twilit Keese, but they won't be a big problem as long as Link keeps moving.
To the west, he will find a purse emanating a scent (time 12:22). As he sniffs it, he remembers one of the last conversations he had with Ilia. Then, after choosing to forget the Youths' Scent, he learns the Scent of Ilia! This will hopefully lead him directly to Ilia's location.
Following the scent trail, he arrives in the northern section of Hyrule Field (time 13:55). Shortly into this area, a cutscene occurs as Midna points out Hyrule Castle in the garish twilight.
After the scene, Link continues following the scent trail (time 14:35). It follows the road southwest through several enemy emplacements, so it will be helpful to swap in and out of Sense mode. The Twilit Bokoblin archers are especially annoying, considering Link lacks a shield. One charged Midna attack will take out each enemy, but charging for the archers is dangerous.
To the southwest, Link exits to the western section of Hyrule Field (time 17:24). More of the same enemies lurk here. The scent trail follows the road south and east, directly into Hyrule Castle Town. In the southwest of this zone, there is a sort of amphitheater overlooking a large bridge and a deep basin.
Finally, Link follows the scent trail east into Hyrule Castle Town (time 20:44). Lots of spirit forms roam this town. The section of town that he arrives in is Castle Town West Road.
Next time, Link will scour Hyrule Castle Town in search of Ilia.
Thanks for watching!
