Previously, Zelda healed Midna, and Link and Midna traveled to Faron Woods. They just entered the Sacred Grove in search of the blade of evil's bane, the Master Sword, to undo the curse that Zant put on Link.
Just inside the area, he finds a Howling Stone (time 0:40). Here, he must howl Zelda's Lullaby. However, when he does, the mischievous Skull Kid drops in! The Skull Kid calls Deku Golems to help and then runs off.
Through this area, Link must play hide-and-seek with the Skull Kid and tag him with an attack three times. Each time, the Skull Kid will open different passages.
At the end, the Skull Kid will be in a circular area (time 4:55). After a little tantrum, the brat will summon more Deku Golems. Link should defeat the Deku Golems, and he will have an opportunity to attack the Skull Kid while he is calling for help.
When Link has hit the Skull Kid three times, this game will be over (time 6:54). He will head off and open a door leading on.
Link moves on to a rectangular area (time 7:27). There are two statues, and there is a Triforce mark on the ground.
At the Triforce mark, Link must again howl Zelda's Lullaby (time 7:55). A puzzle will appear. The two statues will change positions, and they will challenge Link to return them to where they once stood. The left-handed statue will move in the same direction as Link, while the right-handed statue will move in opposition to Link. If there is not a square in front of the statue, it will not move.
After a few moves, Link solves the puzzle (time 9:56). The door leading north opens!
Going north, Link finally finds the Master Sword in its pedestal (time 10:39). It dispels the curse on Link, and he gets himself a new weapon! Even better, Midna retains possession of the shadow fragment that had Link locked into beast form. Link can now change between human and wolf forms at will ... except that Midna will object if there are people around. This also allows Link to warp around as he wishes. Now, Midna asks Link to help her search for the Mirror of Twilight. How could we refuse? If Link talks to Midna afterwards, she will recommend that he seek information in Castle Town.
Link is now free to leave the Sacred Grove, but there are a few things to find first. In the southeast of the Sacred Grove, he can use the Gale Boomerang to obtain the Male Snail, considered another golden bug (time 14:42).
Afterwards, he goes down west to the circle where he fought the Skull Kid (time 15:36). He can bomb the boulder in the middle to liberate another Poe, even during the daytime. He must change to wolf form to engage his senses and fight it. Once he defeats it, he acquires Poe's Soul #07.
At the spot where he bombed the boulder, he can dig underground in wolf form (time 16:29). This takes him to a grotto packed to the rafters with red Deku Babas. Bomb Arrows can make short work of them.
When they are all dead, a chest appears (time 18:08). Opening it, Link acquires Piece of Heart #22!
Afterwards, Link warps over to Castle Town (time 19:01).
However, before he can reach the town gates, he is accosted by the postman (time 19:39). Drat. The postman delivers a letter from Telma: "They came so quickly!" Let's hope that's not innuendo. She has some friends that she wants Link to meet at her bar in Castle Town. This will be the next story requirement, so it may be a while.
Link heads into Castle Town (time 20:42). Then, he goes south and exits to Hyrule Field (time 21:14).
On the ground level, Link will find the Golden Wolf against the northwest foundation of the town gates (time 22:35). Link caused him to appear by howling at the Howling Stone outside the Sacred Grove in North Faron Woods. This time, after verifying his mastery of the Back Slice, Link's skeletal trainer instructs him in the fourth Hidden Skill, the Helm Splitter. The Helm Splitter is available immediately following a successful Shield Attack.
After his lesson, Link returns to Castle Town (time 26:47). A good bit of optional stuff has opened up now, so Link will get started on that in the next episode.
Thanks for watching!
