Zen 4 Is Monstrous & RDNA 3 Improves Machine Learning | Intel Outsources To TSMC
1,761In a new interview, AMD discusses their roadmap plans for both Zen 4 CPUs and RDNA 3 GPUs. With Zen 3 dominating, we can expect Zen 4 to deliver monstrous performance and specs, as well as improvements in architecture vs the Ryzen 5000 processors. Will their dominance in the gaming CPU space continue vs Intel, who are struggling to compete?
RDNA 3 is also looking promising, with improvements to machine learning discussed here as well. RDNA 2 RX 6000 graphics cards have been great so far, with them offering series competition against Nvidia's RTX 30 Ampere cards but it does lack with things such as raytracing. Will RDNA 3 RX 7000 GPUs be able to compete on this front against RTX 40 Lovelace graphics cards?
Intel are seeing a big change, with Bob Swan stepping down as CEO soon and being replaced by Pat Gelsinger, who has a ton of experience in their field. With Intel's upcoming Rocket Lake receiving mixed reception so far with the specs, performance and benchmarks we have seen, and Alder Lake processors still a ways off, will this change of hands change Intel's fortune vs AMD?
Intel have also outsourced to TSMC, as one of their biggest thorns has been production issues and shortages, with the 14nm shortage causing big ripple effects in the industry, for consumers and OEMs.
Microsoft are also apparently not done buying studios, and will be expanding the development and publisher houses under the Xbox Game Studios banner. The Xbox Series X is expecting the first of the games from previous purchases, but it seems we are looking beyond that or at the end of the XSX's life for these later purchases.
