Nvidia RTX 40 Lovelace DESTROYS Ampere - Specs & Analysis
1,841Nvidia's RTX Lovelace Architecture (known as AD) is going to be crazy powerful. Leaks have shown that the LoveLace AD102 silicon will almost double the number of CUDA cores compared to the GA102 core, and conservative performance figures of RTX 40 would be around the 70TFLOPS for FP32.
Lovelace will use Samsung's 5nm process, and almost certainly retains usage of GDDR6X memory. The RTX 40 cards will most certainly compete with AMD's RDNA 3, though whether AMD or Nvidia launches first isn't yet known.
Early next year we're expecting to see the RTX 3080 Ti launch along with other geforce 30 cards such as the RTX 3070 Ti. This will keep Nvidia competitive against AMD's Radeon RX 6800 XT.
Lovelace is supposedly being released because of delays in Hopper, which is an MCM design, where as Lovelace is still a monolithic die.
Intel's Rocket Lake architecture looks to be very impressive, with the Intel I9-11900K and I7-11700K easily destroying the Intel 10900K and even the lower core count Zen 3 processors in multi thread performance, and is about 10 percent faster than Zen 3 in single thread.
Rocket lake will still be on the 14nm process, but it is a backport of sunny cove. The architecture after Rocket lake is said to be Alder Lake.
